On November 14, 2001, the succession agreement with Miami-Dade County took effect, and police services were contracted with the Miami-Dade Police Department. The police officers and supervisory personnel assigned to the Town of Miami Lakes have been committed to serving the needs of the citizens of the Town of Miami Lakes. They continually strive to live up to their oath to uphold the state and local laws, while maintaining a professional, courteous demeanor. In keeping with the Town’s hometown, family oriented quality, the Town of Miami Lakes Police Section makes every effort to provide the citizens of the Town with the quality of service they have come to appreciate.
The Miami-Dade Police Department is continuously enhancing the services that are being provided by developing and administering training to maintain the officers at the forefront of modern police technology. Officers receive training in computer applications, crisis intervention, investigative development, community policing and crime prevention practitioner. Additionally, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement requires mandatory firearms and defensive tactics re-training each year for certification requirements.
