Town Hall Meeting: Traffic Improvements

May 3, 20176:30 pm -8:00 pm

The Town and its Public Safety and Neighborhood Improvement Committees will host a Community Meeting on Transportation Improvements on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30 PM in Town Hall Council Chambers, 6601 Main Street. The meeting will include a recap of the Town’s Transportation Summit, a report on the Transportation Initiatives that have been identified, and provide tips on how residents can also do their part to alleviate traffic congestion.

An initiative of Vice-Mayor Tony Lama and Councilman Nelson Rodriguez, the Transportation Summit was held in order to bring together the relevant stakeholders and experts of all agencies responsible for transportation to focus intensely on specific problems, while ensuring that all agencies’ actions are strategically coordinated to achieve optimal solutions.

Based on the ideas generated at the summit, a list of strategies recommended for the Town to pursue was incorporated into the Town’s Strategic Plan, and Town staff was authorized, to pursue the presented ideas with responsible outside agencies, as well as seek grant opportunities and legislative appropriations to implement these strategies.

National Day of Prayer

May 4, 20178:00 am -9:30 am

Mayor Manny Cid and the Town of Miami Lakes will host a reception at Miami Lakes Town Hall in observance of National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 4th beginning at 8:00 AM.

A light breakfast will be served followed by a musical ensemble from the Elevate Church Worship Band and prayers from members of local houses of worship.

"Since President Washington's swearing in, prayer has played a pivotal role in the truth that our rights come from God and not government," stated Mayor Cid. "The national day of prayer celebration reminds us of faiths prominent place in our nation's founding."

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
