The Town of Miami Lakes once again has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, awarded by Government Finance Officers Association of the United States for its comprehensive annual financial report for FY 2016-2017. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and is earned by complying with several factors including but not limited to, compliance with standard requirements, progressive reporting and outstanding transparency.
The Town has received this award since 2010, and as a standard continues to make improvements. The comprehensive annual financial report has been judged to meet the highest standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the comprehensive annual financial report. The Town Council and Administration take pride in our continued efforts to increase transparency.
