Miami Lakes, FL – The Town and its Public Safety Committee will host Super Saturday at the Park dedicated to safety community awareness, prevention, and well-being education on Saturday, November 4th at Miami Lakes Picnic Park West, 15151 NW 82nd Avenue.
Public Safety Committee’s SUPER SATURDAY AT THE PARK line-up of events will include:
Community Bike Ride: Start SUPER SATURDAY off right with our Community Bike Ride!Registration will be held at 9am for our 5-mile family-friendly loop. Don't forget to BYOBike! And don't worry, we have a shortcut that's perfect for the little ones that want to join in on the fun!
Legal Clinic: The Town of Miami Lakes and its Elderly Affairs Committee together with the Miami Lakes Bar Association will be hosting a Legal Forum from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Mary Collins Community Center. A panel of attorneys and experts in the areas of probate, estate planning, foreclosure, credit fraud, and land issues will discuss these and other legal topics. The program will consist of two panel conversations, followed by a question and answer session.
Paper Shredding Station: Attendees will have the opportunity to bring in their confidential documents, such as cancelled checks, old financial statements, credit card offers, and other documents contain personal information, for on-site shredding provided by A Shred Ahead from 11AM to 1 PM. The station will be located at Mary Collins Community Center parking lot.
Self-Defense Workshop for Women: Specialized Investigations Consultants and Masters Investigations & Security will host a self-defense workshop to instruct women to be aware of dangerous situations, but also provide them with practical self-defense techniques proven effective in real world-situations. This workshop be from 1 PM to 3 PM at Mary Collins Community Center. Participants must be 18 years or older, and comfortable workout attire is encouraged. FIU’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine’s Medical Students Working to Improve Society & Health (MedSWISH) Farmers Market Health Booth: MedSWISH is a medical student-run community service organization that provides health screenings and education to members of the local community. Along with faculty, MedSWISH will be offering stoke prevention and nutritional education, as well as FREE glucose, blood pressure, and BMI screenings. Their booth will run from 9 AM to 12 PM.
