TOWN WINS CASE AGAINST FORMER MAYOR MICHAEL A. PIZZI
Miami Lakes – FL The Town of Miami Lakes would like to announce that the pending litigation of MICHAEL A. PIZZI, Jr. vs TOWN OF MIAMI LAKES, FLORIDA has been dismissed with prejudice on Wednesday, April 25th 2018, Ref Case Number 132015CA01930300000 by Eleventh Judicial Circuit in and for Miami-Dade County, Florida, Court Case #: 2015-019303-CA-01.
This matter relates to the lawsuit by Mr. Michael Pizzi to obtain attorney fees allegedly incurred in his criminal court case. This is the third time that this case is dismissed, and this time with prejudice. It was also previously dismissed on two prior occasions in favor of the Town of Miami Lakes, FL.
The Town Attorney, Raul Gastesi would like to thank the court for their thorough and judicious consideration of the matter. He added that “The court does not believe that Mr. Pizzi has a cause of action and now cannot state a case against the Town of Miami Lakes ever. For that reason, Mr. Pizzi has now started to appeal the matter.” He also said that “We believe the appellate court will agree with both prior judges that Mr. Pizzi does not have a viable case against the Town. Unfortunately, Mr. Pizzi is causing the residents unnecessary inconvenience to incur further and needless legal fees.”
Town of Miami Lakes’ current Mayor Manny Cid commented that “As the Dalai Lama once said that our prime purpose in this life is to help others, and if you can’t help them at least don’t hurt them”. He said that “this lawsuit was hurting the institution and the brand of Miami Lakes. I pray that this ruling brings our community much needed tranquility and happiness that our residents deserve.”
