Yesterday, August 19th, Town Manager Alex Rey and myself had the pleasure of meeting with the Director of the Miami-Dade Public Library System, Raymond Santiago and Assistant Director Gia Arbogast.
The director assured us that our Miami Lakes Library branch will not be closed as part of budget cuts. Our Miami Lakes Library branch will remain open with the same schedule as always to service our residents. The director advised us that although there will be less personnel and the book collections will not be updated as before, they will continue to provide service to the over 161,000 visitors they had during fiscal year 2011-2012.
The library system is presently working on new partnerships with private companies such as Nike and the Miami Dolphins in order to come up with new ways to service our community. Our Community & Leisure Services Director will be working closely with the Library System to team up and provide information to our residents.
Should there be any other developments I will keep you all informed.
