Mayor's Volunteer Service Award Presented to Broderick Schwinghammer

Miami Lakes, FL -  On October 8, the Town Council presented Broderick Schwinghammer with the Mayor's Volunteer Service Award for creating a new park for the Town of Miami Lakes.

Under the direction of Senior Patrol Leader and Eagle Scout Candidate Broderick Schwinghammer, Boy Scout Troop 566 of Our Lady of the Lakes and 40 volunteers worked for two days clearing an overgrown abandoned lot into a Town Park. The Park is located at 7350 Sabal Drive and named "Poets Keep Park". The park includes signs with lines of poetry written on them, as well as a park bench which overlooks the waterway.

"This is what I imagine Miami Lakes is, this is what makes us different, this is what we live for. These children, these young men, this is what makes our community different," said Councilman Ceasar Mestre.
