Virtual Art Tour Honoring Black History Month
Miami Lakes, FL- Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States, also known as African-American History Month. It occurs during the month of February, the birth months of Abraham Lincoln, who issued the Emancipation Proclamation, and Frederick Douglass, an African American abolitionist, and author. The observation originated with the work of historian Carter G. Woodson who pioneered African American studies. In 1976, President Gerald Ford began the observation of National African American History Month.
This year we celebrate and honor the importance of African American Art & Culture in our society and invite residents to take a virtual tour with Miami Lakes resident Christopher Norwood and a founder of Hampton Art Lovers. This virtual tour will allow residents to immerse themselves in African American Art with significant works provided by Hampton Art Lovers.
