Two scholarships, in the amount of $1,000.00 each will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who are residents of the Town of Miami Lakes.

All applications must be received at Town Hall by Friday, March 23rd, 2018 and will be forwarded to the Town’s Education Advisory Board for their selection of the two recipients. The winners will be announced at the Town Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

Interested seniors must submit a typed essay (750 words maximum) explaining in his/her own words how they aspire to make the world a better place. IMAGINATION LIBRARY

Town of Miami Lakes residents can sign up for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a free children's reading program that mails a new book to your home from birth to five years old. To participate, simply fill out and send in a registration form. In about 8 to 10 weeks after your registration form has been approved, a new, carefully selected book will be mailed each month in your child's name directly to your home.

The key to proficiency in reading is to start early and begin reading to your child the day he/she is born, according to the Program. Additionally, the more words a child hears, the larger the child's vocabulary and the more likely he or she will be a proficient reader.

*Click on the link above. Fill out the registration form and mail it to: 6601 Main Street, Miami Lakes, FL 33014
