Miami Lakes, FL -Mayor Wayne Slaton and the Town Council presented two of their fellow council members with special recognitions at the Jan. 13 Council meeting.
Councilman Tim Daubert was honored for receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust for representing Miami Lakes as a volunteer speaker for Ethical Governance Day on Wednesday, October 29, 2014.
The Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust and the Miami Dade County School Board both passed resolutions endorsing this project, which put hundreds of volunteers into Miami-Dade high school classrooms to speak on the importance of civic participation as an avenue to promoting more ethical government at all levels.
Additionally, Councilman Nelson Rodriguez was recognized for his completion of the “Leaders of Excellence Program” from The Good Government Initiative.
Founded by former County Commissioner Katy Sorenson, the Good Government Initiative’s “Leaders of Excellence” is the cornerstone program designed to provide elected officials with skills and knowledge they can apply to their public service. Elected officials participate in training over six months, including two weekend retreats.
“Congratulations to both Councilman Daubert and Councilman Rodriguez for these important accomplishments, thank you for proudly representing the Town of Miami Lakes,” Mayor Wayne Slaton said.
