Miami Lakes, FL - The Town of Miami Lakes encourages residents to join in on showing their support for local law enforcement by placing a blue ribbon on their doors or mailboxes. Town Hall will also place blue ribbons to show support for those who protect and serve our community on a daily basis. This initiative was brought forth by Councilman Nelson Rodriguez and passed unanimously at the October 6th regular Town Council meeting.
“In light of the recent attacks on Law Enforcement Officers nationwide, I encourage residents to show our support by placing blue ribbons on our homes,” said Councilman Rodriguez. “The blue ribbon represents the ‘thin blue line’ between criminals and the public.”
The thin blue line flag is a popular way to show support for law enforcement. The thin blue line emblem has three stripes where each stripe represents certain respective figures: the blue center line represents law enforcement, the top black stripe represents the public and the bottom represents the criminals. The idea behind the graphic is that law enforcement (the thin blue line) is what stands between the violence and victimization by criminals of the would-be victims of crime.
