Miami Lakes, FL - Mayor Michael Pizzi highlighted his priorities for the upcoming year and the Town’s many accomplishments during the past year at the State of the Town Address on Wednesday, October 21st at Town Hall.
Special recognitions were made during the Address to honor the outstanding efforts by volunteers, employees and businesses in Miami Lakes. JetStream Federal Credit Union was named Business of the Year; this award is presented annually to a local business in the Town of Miami Lakes that promotes economic growth and community involvement. Principals James Parker and Rosy Calvo were recognized as Lifetime Achievement Award recipients for their longstanding commitment to educating the children of Miami Lakes. Luis Collazo and Lynn Matos were honored as Volunteers of the Year; both have served as committee chairs in Miami Lakes for several years whose events draw large crowds and serve to the elderly and youth of our Town. Katya Lysak was named Employee of the Year. Katya has been an exemplary employee of Miami Lakes for over 10 years. She currently serves as the Leisure Services Manager, overseeing the Town’s 50 recreation programs. The Key to the Town was presented to Sergio Campos’ family in memory of the late, longtime HOA president of Loch Ness.
The State of the Town Address was sponsored by Baptist Health, Waste Management, and the Miami Lakes Auto Mall and featured tasty treats from local businesses including Cancun Grill, On The Border, 100 Montaditos, Ruby Tuesday, The Ranch House, and Miller Ale House.
