MIAMI LAKES, Florida, April 13, 2016 – County Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. has once again generously donated funds to the Town of Miami Lakes to ensure the continuance of senior programming. The donation of $13,000 will allow classes to continue for approximately 15 weeks through June 2016.
Funding for the programs had been cut during the legislative conference session. This year, Senator Rene Garcia was able to appropriate $1.1 million for the Miami-Dade County program which will go into effect on July 1st, 2016 for the 16-17 programming schedule. Commissioner Bovo officially presented the check at the April Council Meeting.
The Town of Miami Lakes along with the Elderly Affairs Committee would like to thank Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr., as well as Senator Rene Garcia for their continued support.
“On behalf of the Town Council, the resident, and especially our seniors, we would like to thank Commissioner Bovo for his ongoing and steadfast support of our Town’s seniors. This funding will permit us to continue our nationally recognized programs to enhance our seniors’ quality of life” said Mayor Michael Pizzi.
