Miami Lakes, FL -The Town of Miami Lakes continues to be recognized for its abundant, beautiful tree canopy and exceptional tree management practices and was once again awarded the Tree City USA Certification for this past year. This is the 10th consecutive year the Town has received the Tree City USA designation. The Tree City USA designation is provided by The Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service, to recognize environmental improvement and encourage higher levels of tree care throughout America. This award is designed not only to recognize achievement, but also to communicate new ideas and help the leaders of all Tree City USA's plan for improving community tree care.
In addition, the Town received the Tree City Growth Award for the eight consecutive year. The Tree City USA Growth Award is given to communities that go beyond the standards of Tree City USA that demonstrate improvement and growth of local tree care.
“We are proud to once again receive this great designation," stated Mayor Manny Cid. "Trees bring an incredible amount of value to our town and improve our quality of life. Our Tree City designation would not be possible without the great work being done by our parks department".
The Town has completed a comprehensive Tree Management Plan, which establishes an organized, proactive tree maintenance program to ensure Miami Lakes and our trees continue "Growing Beautifully."
