The Blasting Advisory Board was established to discuss and provide the Town Council with recommendations and possible solutions to ease the effects of rock mine blasting.

The Cultural Affairs Committee works to establish a cultural identity in the Town by developing a climate of art, music, theatre, and other recreational activities.

The Economic Development Committee assist in the development of a well-rounded business climate to help build the Town's commercial tax base through the aggressive recruitment of new business.

The Education Advisory Board was created to assess the condition, needs, and availability of schools and educational programs and activities within the Town.

The Elderly Affairs Committee was created to assist the Town with identfying the needs of the elderly residents in Miami Lakes. The committee focuses on the development of programs serving the elderly.

The Neighborhood Improvement Committee is comprised of concerned citizens to bring ideas and potential solutions on how to beautify our Town.

The Public Safety Committee works with local residents, businesses and the Police Department to organize and develop local crime watch programs and provide opportunities for public safety awareness and education.
The mission of the Special Needs Advisory Board is to create a model town for inclusion, by identifying specific Miami Lakes families with an interest in matters pertaining to individuals with special needs; connecting them to existing programs, services and events; and, serving the Town Council in an advisory capacity to identify unmet needs and assist with the discovery of possible solutions.

From time to time the Town of Miami Lakes seeks volunteers to help with events, activities, and programs related to the Town.

Please note, the Town requires the Volunteer Registration Form (via Eventbrite) be submitted prior to volunteering at Town events. All Volunteer opportunities are provided on a first come, first served basis. Thank you for your interest in supporting our community.

The beautiful tree canopy in Miami Lakes has long been the signature of the Town.


The Town of Miami Lakes has an estimated 17,832 trees (tree canopy covers an estimated 30%).
The four most common species in the regional forest are:
Southern Live Oak (37.5%)
Geometry Tree (21.5%)
Palmetto (10.1%)
West Indian Mahogany (6.4%)
A recent study concluded that the trees contribute significantly to the environment, human health, energy savings, and quality of life in the region. The assessment calculated that the trees in Miami Lakes reduce energy costs from residential buildings by approximately $231,000 annually.

Art Exhibit 2016

Community Recital

Each year, the Town hosts an annual community recital where our 200+ students are able to showcase their talents learned over the last year.

Youth Programs Closing Ceremonies December 18, 2015

The Town recognized all participants from the Youth Start Smart, Archery, and Golf Programs at the end of the year Closing Ceremonies held on Friday, December 18th.

End-Of-Year Art Exhibition June 4, 2015

The Adult Painting Class hosted an Art Exhibition to showcase their artwork for friends and family. The pieces will be displayed in Town Hall throughout the month of June.
