Interested in helping to improve our community’s road infrastructure? Join the Town of Miami Lakes and its Transportation Department for a Complete Streets Design Workshop on Monday, October 23rd beginning at 6pm at Town Hall, 6601 Main Street.
Complete Streets Initiatives include infrastructure enhancements that implement additional pedestrian and bike improvements to give all users a greater share of the right-of-way. The specific improvements can vary from pavement markings to new physical barriers built between travel lanes and bike pedestrian pathways. Ultimately the improvements are done to increase safety while not compromising traffic flow.
The recommendations were developed in coordination with the Miami-Dade County Complete Streets Design Guidelines Program. The proposed design guidelines are customized to fit the context of the identified Miami Lakes street typology and are focused on providing multimodal roadway improvements that take into consideration all users.
During the workshop, the Town will provide an overview of complete streets components, present existing conditions of the roadway characteristics within the Town, and present examples of concepts for select corridors.
The Town encourages residents to join so we may work together to improve our streets to accommodate all users from pedestrians to bicyclist to transit riders and motorist.
