Town of Miami Lakes Launches Vision Zero Initiative to Improve Road Safety
September 24, 2025

The Town of Miami Lakes is proud to announce the launch of Vision Zero Miami Lakes, a bold initiative to make our streets safer for everyone—whether walking, biking, driving, or using transit.
With support from a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant, the Town is developing a Comprehensive Vision Zero Safety Action Plan (CVZSAP) with the ambitious goal of eliminating traffic-related deaths and serious injuries by 2040. The plan will identify key safety issues and outline targeted strategies to improve transportation safety and accessibility across Miami Lakes.
Vision Zero is a global traffic safety movement that began in Sweden in the 1990s and has since spread across the U.S., including right here in Florida. Its approach is built on the belief that traffic deaths and serious injuries are preventable through proactive measures like safer street design, public education, equitable enforcement, and strong community collaboration.
