Town of Miami Lakes Announces Senior Citizen & Disability Relief Program to Provide Additional Property Tax Relief

Miami Lakes, FL – The Town of Miami Lakes announces that checks are now being mailed to eligible homeowners through its Senior Citizen & Disability Relief Program, an additional benefit designed to support seniors, persons with disabilities, and qualifying veterans who meet eligibility requirements.
This program provides added relief beyond standard homestead exemptions and is available to Miami Lakes homeowners who qualify under senior citizen or disability criteria. The initiative reflects the Town’s ongoing commitment to supporting residents on fixed incomes and those facing physical or service-related challenges.
Eligibility Highlights Include:
Senior Citizens:
· The property must qualify for a homestead exemption
· At least one homeowner must be 65 years or older as of January 1
· Total household adjusted gross income must fall within statutory limits established by Miami-Dade County
Persons with Disabilities (Civilians):
· Individuals who are blind or legally blind
· Individuals who are totally and permanently disabled
· Individuals certified as quadriplegic, paraplegic, hemiplegic, or wheelchair-dependent
· Other qualifying total and permanent disabilities
Veterans with Disabilities:
· Veterans with a 10% or greater service-connected disability
· Veterans with total and permanent service-connected disabilities
· Veterans age 65 and older with combat-related disabilities
