Town of Miami Lakes Receives National Recognition for Excellence in Financial Reporting

Miami Lakes, FL – The Town of Miami Lakes has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2024, marking the 13th consecutive year the Town has received this prestigious national recognition.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, honoring state and local governments that go beyond minimum requirements to demonstrate transparency, accuracy, and full disclosure in their financial reporting.

“This award reflects the Town’s strong commitment to accountability, transparency, and sound financial management,” said Edward Pidermann, Town Manager. “Receiving this recognition for the 13th consecutive year is a testament to the professionalism and dedication of our Finance Department and the entire team responsible for preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.”

In addition to the Certificate of Achievement presented to the Town, the GFOA also awarded an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA) to the department designated as primarily responsible for preparing the report, recognizing the staff’s role in meeting the program’s rigorous standards.

The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement Program in 1945 to encourage and assist governments in preparing high-quality financial reports that clearly communicate their financial position and operations. To earn the award, the Town’s ACFR was reviewed by impartial professionals who evaluated it against strict program criteria.
