Council Awards New Contract for Farmers Market Operation

Miami Lakes, FL – Following months of detailed work and vetting, the Town Council approved the awarding of the contract for operation of the Farmers Market here in Miami Lakes to Florida Marketplace Group, LLC (“Florida Marketplace”) of Miami Shores, extending a partnership that has lasted since 2021.

Effective March 12, 2024, Florida Marketplace will operate the market each Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., continuing its objectives of providing local businesses & artisans the opportunity to sell locally, creating a social gathering for the local community, and more. The contract will run through 2027, and includes two one-year options for renewal.

The Town issued Request for Proposals (“RFP”) 2024-12 for Operations of the Farmers Market in December 2023. An Evaluation Committee, comprised of communications, planning, and public works staff, was provided with proposals from:

  • Florida Marketplace Group, LLC – 592 points
  • Florida Fresh Markets, Ent. LLC – 500 points

The Evaluation Committee met on March 7, 2024 to evaluate and rank proposals, moving to establish the above rankings and recommendation. Residents and visitors can look forward to the continuation of the Farmers Market on Main Street, occupying the south roadway, on a weekly basis beginning March 23, 2024 at 9 a.m.
