Nominations for 2024 Women of Distinction Now Open

Miami Lakes, FL – The month of March is recognized and celebrated as Women’s History Month, commemorating the achievements and vital role that women play in America, both historic and current. Here in Miami Lakes, the Town and its Cultural Affairs Committee look to do the same with its annual Women of Distinction Awards, where we look to honor those women in Miami Lakes. The winners of the below categories will be honored at the yearly Women of Distinction luncheon, taking place March 16, 2024 at Town Hall (6601 Main St).

Nominations can be submitted here. In order to be considered, nominations for individuals must be submitted by February 14, 2024 at 5 p.m. The award categories are as follows:

  • Arts: Woman who has contributed to the cultural life of the community through theatre, dance, music, art or literature.
  • Business: Professional woman in a position as owner, CEO or high-level manager of a business or industry.
  • Education: A woman educator, administrator or director of a public or private institution of learning who has been outstanding in the field.
  • Government: Woman who has made an outstanding contribution to the community through her work in or with local government.
  • Health Services: Individual who has made an outstanding contribution in the health services field.
  • Volunteer: A woman who has made an outstanding contribution in serving the needs of others.

The Cultural Affairs Committee works to establish a cultural identity in the Town. The committee plans and coordinates activities that will further the development of art, music, theatre, and other recreational activities.
