Public Safety Committee Recognizes Two First Responders at Yearly Appreciation Breakfast

May 22, 2023

Miami Lakes, F.L. – On May 20, The Town of Miami Lakes and its Public Safety Committee proudly hosted a heartwarming Police and Fire Appreciation Breakfast. The event celebrated the selfless dedication and bravery of our courageous first responders and featured special awards presented to two outstanding individuals—Lazaro Calzadilla and Town of Miami Lakes Detective Myriam Nieves—with Mayor Manny Cid and Town Manager Edward Pidermann there to celebrate the recipients for their work in our community.

During the breakfast, Miami-Dade County Firefighter Lazaro Calzadilla was presented with the Fire Award in recognition of his exceptional bravery and commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of the local community. Calzadilla has consistently displayed courage and professionalism throughout his career, setting a shining example for his colleagues and inspiring others with his dedication to public safety. Town Detective Myriam Nieves was honored with the Police Award. Nieves’ outstanding contributions to our local law enforcement have not only brought justice to the community but also helped foster a sense of security in the town.

This occasion was made possible by the generous support of our sponsors: The Graham Companies, J’s Beauty Spa & Treatments, Lou’s Police Distributors, and D’Villavicencio & Associates, Public Safety Training & Consulting, Inc.
