After starring at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School, Ochoa’s talent and determination carried him to Major League Baseball, where he enjoyed a successful career spanning more than a decade. Along the way, he represented multiple Major League clubs and showcased his skills on the international stage, earning the respect of teammates, coaches, and fans alike.

His journey from local ballfields to the major leagues reminds young athletes that greatness often begins in their own hometown. Through dedication, perseverance, and hard work, Alex Ochoa demonstrated that Miami Lakes can produce talent capable of competing with the very best in the world.

Long before today’s athletes took the field, Jack McCall was helping build the foundation for youth sports in Miami Lakes.

A dedicated leader and volunteer with the Miami Lakes Optimist Club, McCall devoted decades to creating opportunities for young athletes to learn, compete, and grow. He believed sports were about much more than wins and losses, they were about teaching responsibility, teamwork, discipline, and confidence.

Through his leadership, mentorship, and commitment to youth athletics, Jack helped shape generations of young people and played an instrumental role in establishing the sports culture that continues to thrive in Miami Lakes today. His legacy lives on in the parks, programs, and lives he touched, reminding us that the greatest champions are often those who dedicate themselves to helping others succeed.
