Vietnam Veteran Larry Borman Selected as Grand Marshal of 47th Annual Miami Lakes Veterans Parade

Miami Lakes, FL – The Town of Miami Lakes is proud to announce that longtime Miami Lakes resident and Vietnam veteran Larry Borman has been selected to serve as Grand Marshal of the 47th Annual Miami Lakes Veterans Parade, taking place Sunday, November 8, 2026.
The parade, recognized as the longest-running Veterans Day parade in Miami-Dade County, will take place from 10:00 a.m. to noon along NW 67th Avenue, near Main Street, and will conclude at Town Hall. The annual patriotic tradition honors the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces, as well as those who are actively serving today.
Borman served 19 months in Vietnam as a combat intelligence analyst with the United States Army and has continued his commitment to service through decades of involvement with veterans organizations and the Miami Lakes community.
Born and raised in Camden, New Jersey, Borman graduated from high school during the height of the Vietnam War. After losing his student deferment, he chose to volunteer and enlist in the United States Army rather than wait to be drafted.
After graduating from the United States Army Intelligence School in Baltimore, Maryland, Borman became a combat intelligence analyst and was deployed to Vietnam. He was assigned to the 204th Military Intelligence Detachment in Phu Bai, near the city of Hue.
During his nine months in Phu Bai, Borman carried out a variety of intelligence-related responsibilities, many of which were classified. His duties included handling, transporting and delivering classified documents and materials. When his unit was reassigned to Da Nang, Borman moved with the unit and continued serving there for another 10 months, completing a total of 19 months in Vietnam.
Upon returning to the United States in 1971, Borman was stationed at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, where he assisted with investigations and the processing of individuals applying for security clearances.
Borman first moved to Miami Lakes in 1972 and immediately developed a connection to the community. His career later took him to several cities across the country before he returned permanently to Miami Lakes in 1998. He has lived on Lake Martha for nearly 28 years.
Today, Borman continues his service as President of the Lake Martha Homeowners Association, Vice Commander of Miami Lakes American Legion Post 144, and Vice Chairman of the Town of Miami Lakes Veterans Committee. Through these organizations, he remains actively involved in supporting veterans, strengthening the community, and preserving the memory and sacrifices of those who served the nation.
Following the parade, the Town will host a Veterans Day Ceremony at Town Hall, where the community will continue its observance of the holiday and Borman will receive an honorary Grand Marshal dedication.
Residents are encouraged to line the parade route and join the Town in honoring Borman and all those who have served our country.
