Town Partners with Local Charity for Annual Shoe Drive
MIAMI LAKES, FL – The Town of Miami Lakes has partnered with Loving Soles since 2013 to collect shoes for the needy in the South Florida community. The Miami Lakes based charity is dedicated to providing shoes to Miami's homeless. As in past years, a group of students from Miami Lakes are coordinating and leading the shoe collection efforts. All shoes collected will be donated to Camillus House.
"As we begin the year, we are reminded of our good fortune and the importance of helping others," said Town Clerk Gina M. Inguanzo, who, along with her children, is spearheading this year's collection. "Our community has collected and donated nearly 4,000 pairs of shoes to Camillus House with shoe drives held in the past. With the help of Loving Soles and the residents and students of our community, I know we can continue to make a great contribution to those most in need in our greater South Florida community".
The shoe drive will take place from February 12 through March 14, 2021. Please bring new or gently worn shoes to the three collection sites which have been designated:
Town Hall
6601 Main Street
Hours: Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
A closing collection ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 14 at 11:30 a.m. at Town Hall, to coincide with National Shoe the World Day, a day created to bring awareness of the incredible need to help those people around the world that do not have shoes to wear and then to take action in helping.
