Miami Lakes, FL -The Town of Miami Lakes is excited to announce it will offer an insight into the world of aviation through Operation SAFEE Flight Academy during its summer camp program this year.
The 2-day academy will be offered to campers that participate in the Town of Miami Lakes Summer Camp Program, taking place at Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 NW 87th Avenue, in Miami Lakes. Campers will get a chance to hear from aviation professionals such as air traffic controllers, pilots, certified flight instructors, avionics techs, and aircraft mechanics on career opportunities in the aviation field and campers will also get a chance to try out a flight simulator and take a tour of an air traffic control tower!
Operation SAFEE Flight is dedicated to helping children stay in school, improve their academic performance and explore STEM education and career possibilities in the aviation industry and it offers ongoing educational activities in partnership with local communities.
Recently, Town Councilmen Tim Daubert, Ceasar Mestre, Frank Mingo and Nelson Rodriguez attended the Operation SAFEE Flight South Florida Aviators Fly-In and Educational Expo on April 17th at the Opa Locka Airport Orion Jet Center. This event kicked off a year of Aviation/STEM education, community collaboration and the SAFEE Flight Academy.
