The Town Council shall consist of the Mayor and Six At-Large Councilmembers, who are elected to four-year terms on a non-partisan basis. Councilmembers shall serve in seats numbered 1-6 collectively “Seats” and councilmembers shall be elected at-large. The Town of Miami Lakes holds municipal elections every four years, in even numbered years. General Elections are held in each even-numbered year on the day on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November, provided that it is the intent of the Town Charter that the Town election always be scheduled to coincide with a Countywide election.

As per Section 13-425(3) of the Town Code: Garage sales, estate sales, moving sales and yard sales shall not be deemed commercial activities and will be permitted, so long as they are conducted on the residential property no more than four days per calendar year, per home, regardless of any change in ownership throughout the one-year period and involve the sale of normal household items only. A garage sale permit from the Town is required.

The Town of Miami Lakes Procurement Ordinance 26-350, sections 13 and 18, establishes preference provisions for business entities located within the Town’s boundaries, as well as for veteran-owned businesses and agencies designated under Florida’s Unique Abilities Partner Program. To qualify, vendors must meet the eligibility requirements for the applicable preference, and their bid or proposal must satisfy the thresholds set forth in the Procurement Ordinance. Businesses may apply for a preference for competitive solicitations in exceed of $10,000.
